Montague S. Claybrook

Monty Claybrook oversees Fesnak’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice, where he is responsible for the firm’s restructuring and liquidation services. He specializes in providing strategic, financial and operational advice to financially challenged companies.  His experience spans a wide range of industries including, automotive, telecommunications, financial services, real estate, retail and technology. 

He has represented both creditors and debtors in bankruptcy and out-of-court settlements.  Activities performed in this area include analysis of cash flow projections, operational reviews and development of business plans, bankruptcy planning, assessment and development of asset sales and liquidation plans, determination of asset and enterprise valuations, facilitation and negotiation of assets sales in and out of bankruptcy and, negotiations with buyers and sellers of assets.  He has served as trustee in several liquidating trusts and led teams in the following engagements:

• Providing financial analysis to distressed companies in Chapter 11,
• Assisting clients on corporate restructurings,
• Acting as Trustee/Financial Advisor to lenders and/or owners in the purchase or sale of businesses and business assets in a wide span of industries,
• Valuing and selling the assets of insolvent companies outside of Chapter 11,
• Indentifying buyer/seller candidates for private clients,
• Served as Trustee in the liquidation of business assets in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings

Prior to joining Fesnak, Monty ran his own firm, Claybrook & Associates, for seven years where he was recognized as a leader in bankruptcy and reorganization. Previously, he was a Director at Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI) where he was a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring division.  Prior to NCI, Monty was a Director at PENTA Advisory Services, LLC, where he founded and oversaw the Wilmington, Delaware office. 

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
